EMERGING ARTIST: AUSARA
In a recent interview, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ausara, a dynamic artist who has quickly made a name for himself in the Toronto music scene.
With roots spanning across Brampton, Mississauga, Markham, Scarborough, Ajax, and Pickering, his journey growing up has been full of many experiences, especially ones of music. Growing up, he was immersed in a rich musical environment. His family, deeply involved in music and poetry, provided a strong foundation for his artistic growth.
He highlighted the profound influence of his father, a rapper, who introduced him to various artists and genres. With exposure to jazz and afro rhythms since childhood, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some of such genres having a little influence on Ausara's unique sound and artistic direction.
Although music was a constant in his life, his dive into the industry began relatively recently. Initially, music was a hobby, a creative outlet during the uncertain times of the pandemic. However, by April of the previous year, Ausara decided to pursue it as a career. With a background rich in musicality and a clear passion for the craft, he found himself a spot in the industry.
Transitioning from making music for fun to establishing a career came with its set of challenges. Networking and building connections were crucial steps in this journey, as Ausara puts emphasis on the importance of meeting people and showcasing his talent:
His dedication to connecting with others and consistently presenting his work has significantly contributed to his growth as an artist.
In terms of resources, Ausara uses various tools to enhance his music production and outreach. He primarily uses BandLab for mixing his tracks and collaborates with Loud Army, a platform that supports artists through events and streaming services. These resources have been instrumental in his development, allowing him to produce high-quality music and reach a broader audience.
In our conversation, he also shared how his recent collaboration with SEQUENCE has been a helpful hand in his career, offering him new opportunities and resources to grow as an artist. In regards to filming his music video at the SEQUENCE studio, he described the experience positively:
For those aspiring to break into the music scene, Ausara offers valuable advice:
"Find your unique expression, your sound. You have to be seen doing something that you are really good at."
He also stresses the importance of seeking help and learning from those who are already established in the industry.
Looking ahead, he is considering furthering his education in audio engineering to deepen his understanding of music production. This aligns with his ongoing commitment to honing his craft and expanding his capabilities as an artist.
